JUNE 7, 2017:
Have you booked a beach getaway or are you looking forward to a city staycation? Wherever you’re headed, it’s time to think vacation – even beauty creators have to take a break sometimes! Here are the creators you should be watching to get your summer beauty look sorted, from head to toe…
Yes, everyone’s been obsessing over unicorns – even well before National Unicorn Day (April 9th, in case you don’t want to miss it next year) – but a rather lovely reaction to what Elite Daily called the ‘Magical Beauty Trend [That] Took Over Spring’ is that summer’s toning it down. The best way to complement those beachy waves is with a colour that creator, Glam Iris calls ‘smoked peaches and cream’. As Bustle explains, it’s a ‘pastel hue that fits right into the unicorn-hair sphere, while bringing something new to the table.’
Sunset Eye Shadow
This month, Popsugar’s Victoria Messina wrote: ‘Nothing is getting me in the summer mood quite like [this] latest makeup trend to take over Instagram’. And it’s easy to see why. The makeup look gives all the colors of summer romance – from pastel pinks to deep purples, zingy oranges to sunflower yellow. Daisy Marquez talks us through her interpretation in this easy-to-follow tutorial video. We also really love the bloggers that have added a touch of glitter along the lower or upper lash lines, see Maria Alexandra’s The Lion King-inspired look.
Taking that sunkissed shimmer to the next level, YouTube stars Kate Albrecht and Joey Zehr of Mr. Kate launched their BeautyMarks account somewhat quietly on Instagram earlier this month by promoting the festival-friendly Freckles Packet. Soon enough, gold, silver and multi-colored freckles were making their mark across the community – and HuffPost rated it as one of the top trends of 2017. See the behind-the-scenes video, as Albrecht is joined by a diverse group of models to promote the brand’s inclusive, #creativeweirdos message.
Rose Quartz Nails
This is ‘the perfect beauty trend for summer’, according to Mashable. This new nude look perfectly fuses this year’s barely-there Los Angeles manicure with the geode-inspired nails trend – and acts as a reminder of the healing power of crystals, too. If you fancy trying it out at home instead of hitting the salon, nail art YouTuber, JauntyJuli has found a clever DIY technique using scrunched-up plastic wrap alongside a variety of pared-back nail colors – white, light pink, sheer pink and rose.
