AUG 4, 2016:
Trying on make-up from the comfort of your own home has never been easier. Whether you are looking for new products or just bored on a Saturday night, these digital beauty apps will keep you entertained (and beautiful) for hours.
Working with Facebook Messenger, ModiFace uses augmented reality to help you discover new products. You can search over 20,000 beauty products and chat with an advisor about colors, brands and other information. You can also virtually try on products before your very eyes, just upload a selfie. It’s kind of like Snapchat but with hundreds of beauty products.
Urban Decay: Vice
Never purchase the wrong shade of lipstick again. Urban Decay’s app uses a mirror screen to let you virtually try on about 100 different shades from the company. You can also share your looks to social media, for input from your friends.
Shiseido: Rouge Rouge Kiss Me
Using the gamification model (it really is addictive), Shiseido lets you send a virtual kiss to a friend using the app. Just kiss your smart phone screen to create your own kissing message, which the app makes into a cute little gif.
Max Factor: #Be More You
Offering extremely personal attention, Max Factor’s virtual make-up consultation service uses video calling, so you really get a customized experience. Launched by the brand’s head make-up artist Caroline Barnes and her team of experts, the consultation includes facial diagnosis and personal make-up artistry tips.
Rimmel London: Get The Look
Dubbed “the Shazam of beauty,” Rimmel’s app allows you to take a picture from the a magazine, Instagram picture or even real life, upload it into the app and get a list of color-matched products from Rimmel. From there, you can try the products on virtually, and even buy the products right there in the app.
